  • Lahore's idiosyncrasies

My friend Rafay Alam, who is an urban planning & environmental activist, a high court attorney, a lecturer at the law department of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, a radio show host, a writer, as well as many other things, has been merrily capturing Lahore's absurdities as well as progressive culture on camera. His photos merit your glance.

    "Butt Cuisine"
Explanation: Butt is a common surname in Pakistan. Though people know the English slang, they insist on using their family name to advertise anything and everything, from property to food - even gas.

Appetising advertising: "Butt Cuisine, Taka tak!"

Straight to the point: "Joy Tailors - Specialist in Ladies"

Men and women take to Lahore's streets on their bikes, protesting for more space for cyclists (good for them). Demo, which is becoming a recurring event, organised by Rafay

"No to terrorism" - only in Lahore. Who exactly are they protesting to?
